Surface Experts is a growing franchise system based in Spokane, WA, with new franchises coming online each month. We care about our people, that they love where they work and who they work with. As our system grows, we need to add a part-time Human Resources Professional who is well equipped to help build and support our expanding team.

We are looking for an HR Professional to assist with guiding employees through various human resource processes, answering any questions they may have about policies, helping to establish new policies and procedures, and helping to establish boundaries between the franchisor and franchisees. This job includes, but is not limited to, tasks such as: supporting current staff by dealing with employee grievances or conflicts, managing preliminary recruiting processes, drafting templates for HR documents, following up with Unemployment and L&I services, and assisting franchisees with procedure options. This list is not exhaustive.

This role will begin part-time and possible move into full-time in a few months.

Roles and Responsibilities

Assists hiring manager(s) in full-cycle recruiting, contacting references, and performing background checks on applicants.
Creates onboarding plan and educates newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations.
Generates official internal documents such as offer letters and coaching forms.
Maintains physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records.
Collaborates with Leadership Team in evaluating employee performance, potential pay increases, and Performance Improvement Plans.
Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
Assists in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

3+ years of experience with hands on Human Resources
AA or BA in Business or Human Resources or a related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

Compensation: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.
